An Epic Tale of WOOT!

an-epic-tale-of-woot

Last week The Wifey said, “Go forth and source this thing, for next week we shall have sufficient funds to pay for it”

To which I replied, “Woot! Verily I shall go!” And so I went, only to find “They” don’t ship outside America. Bastards!! (I don’t mean that… mostly)

Then came the time of Woe. For to source such a thing locally would cost us considerably more. Further waiting it seemed was nigh.

“OH FIE!”, said I.

But the Wifey being Pure Awesomeness Personified, picked me up and dried my tears (Manly tears of course) and pointed out that due to the fiscal year and the fact I don’t…Blah blah blah tax talk… Hurrah!!

*ahem* So I just got off the phone, after years of dreaming and almost a year saving I have finally ordered IT!

*Does a Happy Dance*

It should be here by Wednesday. :)

I did not win… and it is a good thing.

So I’m not sure I’ve ever mentioned it here but I’m a massive fan of Beaver & Steve. ;)

A couple of weeks ago James Turner, the genius behind the wacky duo, posted on his site letting us know he’d got a paid comic gig and as such he wasn’t sure as to the fate of B&S. “Oh Noes!” said I. Great for him but what about his legions of adoring fans!? ie me.

Never fear! A competition was set up to discover a guest artist to artify the duos hijinks for a trial period. Needless to say I entered, one does not pass up an opportunity to draw his favourite characters outside of fanart very often. Let alone win the right to be “the artist”.

I did not win. Which yes made me pout a little at first however during the process of creating my entry I tried a few new things which I really like and it got me all fired up to get back into my own comic to use them there. Also mine wasn’t the best anyway.

If you’re interested you can check out all the entries here… my personal favourite was the one by Andy Powell one of the three runner ups. Oh and this one is mine. :)

Ps. The next Mighty Vikings page is inked so it shouldn’t be as long a wait as the last one was. ;)

I’m Not Dead!

im-not-dead

Hey, just thought I’d let you know I’m not dead… just been doing lots of extra hours at work and trying to get my submissions for the Swancon art show done in time. Ok ok so for a while I was addicted to Mass Effect but that was weeks ago… ;)

Anyway, I’m not dead and once the con is over I’ll be back to working my normal hours and the comic can get under way again. Cheers for sticking around. :)

For those in Perth who are going to the con but don’t know me… I’ll be the tall skinny fellow with blue hair. Feel free to say Hi and berate me for the lack of pages.

Happy Not So New Year!

happy-not-so-new-year

Hey all, hope you had a fun and safe holiday season. Mine has been busy busy busy and while yes I did get to borrow Mass effect over the hols I can honestly say that it isn’t the main reason for the lack of updates… I mean 18 hours game play in the last month is nothing… pathetic even! No I’ve just had a bad case of the I’llpostsomethinglaters and of course later never comes.

But the holidays are over and everything seems to be settling down… the next page just needs to be coloured but if I have a new years resolution it’s definitely going to be no more “It will be up by this day” promises… cos I suck at those. But I do have a whole pile of sketches from my work notebook so there’s a chance there’ll be some kind of something up sometime…

Also I’ve decided against saving for a new pc, which would have saved me a bit of time in the comic creation process. Instead I’ll be saving for a sexy drawing tablet thingy which, once mastered, will save me a metric arseload of time on the comic. This will be entirely due to the fact that at the moment my inking skills stubbornly refuse to improve and I’m murdering all my lovely pencil drawings and then spending a good 6 hours a page cleaning up all the lines… the tablet will allow me to just scan the pencils and the ink straight onto a new layer… for those that don’t understand what I’m talking about… this is an awesome thing ;) YAY!!

Twenty pages of Murderous sheep.

twenty-pages-of-murderous-sheep

I was just scanning through the site and noticed page 20 was missing. “What the!?”, I said to myself. So I checked and for some reason it had been set to private. EH!? Now I’m left wondering if it’s always been like that and no-ones ever seen it. In which case I have to wonder why it’s absence wasn’t pointed out to me… Eg. Oi! Dumbass!! Although the story still works without it so maybe … eh… it’s fixed now. If you are wondering whether you’ve seen it or not go back and have a look. It’s one of the better pages I think and worth a look.

As for the next page… weeell I’m a little distracted drawing something that has nothing to do with the comic today… Tomorrow I shall get back to it. Or maybe Sunday. ;)

The Good, The Bad & The Ambivalent.

the-good-the-bad-the-ambivalent

In list form as I like lists…

Good… I finished Metroid which means more time to work on the comic! :)
Bad… I have to work extra hours this week as I won’t get paid for the next 2 weeks. :(
Good… I get 2 weeks off over Christmas YAY! :D
Bad… It appears The Mighty Pratchett Man may be mortal after all! :(
Bad… I can’t beat Lou (The last boss in GH3) on hard difficulty… :(
Bad… I only know how to do one type of sad face in wordpress… :(
Ambivalent… Rockband isn’t out in Australia yet.
Ambivalent… I don’t have Mass Effect yet.

The last two I desperately want to play but if I do then the comic will suffer even more which to me is a bad thing. ;)

ZOMG BAD! I just realised I haven’t posted a page in over a month! I suck!

Too many parties and not enough sleep…

too-many-parties-and-not-enough-sleep

November is killing me… The header says it all and with Christmas just around the corner I doubt I’ll have a free weekend till mid January. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a good party. To me a birthday is the ultimate excuse to get all your friends in one place and boogie (though lately it’s been more guitar hero than boogie), and really, any excuse will do. However with work and the constant stream of places to be it seems the thing that suffers most is always the comic. Whenever I have any time off I’m just too exhausted to draw…

However I have so many ideas for the comic as well as many other projects I hope will one day see realisation and I hope you’ll agree my drawing skills have improved considerably since the comics beginning last year. So I shall keep plugging away at it and with any luck you’ll get a new page this Friday. In my head I know that technically there is enough time and that it is conceivable it can be done… ;)

That’s enough “poor little me” for today. This is what happens when I post before breakfast… the hunger makes me whiny.

Ps. Two more of my very Favouritest people in the world got married on Saturday which is something I would not have missed for anything. Congratulations again you two!

Warp Factor 5!! :D

I Can has a day off 4 my Birfday!

Posted by Rewnad in Ramblings at 4:20 pm, 9th November, 2007

Woops! Got the new Metroid game for my birthday so played that instead of finishing the page… ;)

I’ll finish it tomorrow I promise so come back then cause it’s awesome!

The Comic Dooming Barbecue Of… Doom.

Posted by Rewnad in Ramblings at 1:06 pm, 8th October, 2007

For the last few months I’ve been making a lot of excuses why the comic is late, on hold, etc… and now, finally, almost all of those excuses are gone.

Let’s Review.

  1. The Apocalypse: Done and dusted, she’s stuck with me for life.
  2. Moving House: Done and mostly set up now. All the necessary things have been unpacked and put in place.
  3. Looking for a Car: Found and bought. It may not be new but it’s newer than my last car and it’s red so it goes faster! ;)

Huzzah I say! With all that done I should have plenty of time to work on the comic… the only other major time drain I have left is work and that still leaves me with lots of spare time right?… Right?!

*ahem* i might have signed back up for wow yesterday…

I had been “clean” for just over 12 months… This very comic the reason I quit and the result of all the free time I gained!! …and now it’s there again… calling to me, tempting me with it’s time wasting monster grindy sweetness. :(

The straw that broke the camel of my resistance’s back was my appalling decision to attend my old Guilds barbecue get together on Saturday at which everyone kept asking when I was coming back. In particular the talk of the addition of flying engineer mounts… Although inspite of that I might have resisted had not the Wifey turned to me the next day and said… “I feel like playing Wow”

*sigh*

Hooray for the shops being open in the city on Sundays and EB’s half price sale! Two copies of Burning crusade for only $60. Booyah.

Do not despair dear readers… All 12 of you ;) The comic will not be put on hold again. I shall play only in the evenings when my comic work is done! *fingers crossed*

Btw did you know the comic is a year old this month! I’d get a t-shirt done up but I don’t have the spare cash… maybe a cool wallpaper… there’ll be a post at least. :)

Blah Blah Blah… and stuff!

Posted by Rewnad in Ramblings at 5:40 pm, 25th September, 2007

The short version is… I’m really busy. New page will be up… sometime. Links. Sorry. :(

The Long version…

So Saturdays Hypersupermega!! effort at getting the latest page done was severely hampered by a crippling headache that caused me to feel like throwing up and hung around till mid afternoon.

Then Sunday was a write-off as it was the Grandfinal of the WAFL and having married into a family of rabid Subicao Lions supporters the “Lucky Monkey” was required to attend. However it was a fun day and we emerged victorious for the second year in a row so that was good. Despite not being a huge AFL fan I do have an appreciation for the game and enjoyed myself immensely and so don’t feel the day was wasted.

Monday was spent getting over the hangover from the celebrations of the night before and desperately trying to find a car as sharing one with the wife means so much less sleep than I need as she starts very early most days and my shifts tend to end later than hers. :( The one car I actually managed to go out and see was a big disappointment. *sigh* This is quickly becoming the biggest hassle for me at the moment.

And today… was my Grandfathers Funeral. I will miss him. That’s all I think I’ll say about that.

Coming up this week my car hunt will continue, plus I’ve allowed myself to be suckered into a couple of extra shifts at work because, let’s face it, the extra money would be handy.

With all this going on the comic is what suffers. I really enjoy doing it but I can’t see myself being able to maintain a weekly update at this stage. I hope you’ll all still hang around and I will try to at least put something up each Friday be it a Ninja in my pocket or random sketch or bit of art. If you’re fed up with coming here all the time to find nothing new why not subscribe to the RSS Feed or if you’re a Live journal user you could just ad The Mighty Vikings to your friends list!

So thanks and sorry and I hope you’ll hang around… oh and by the way, Tell Your Friends!
